Egede Town In Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State

Egede Town is one of the towns that make up Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State in Nigeria. With about six villages namely; Umuokpala, Okwum, Umuanum, Umuovu, Amaozala and Anekeneze, the town is to the north of Enugu State and just a couple of kilometres after the 9 mile conner at Nqwo - Enugu.
There are two vibrant markets attended on Orie and Afor market days - the Amukwu and Ukwu markets attended by the villagers and outsiders alike. Nkwo and Eke complete the rest of the Four-Day weekly calendar.
Although mostly Christians, other beliefs exist which are practised by a section of the community. Education and Health have always been and always will continue to be a priority by the town's leaders, elders and the community in general - making every effort to emphasis this to the generation Egede is rich in culture, tradition and has a historic background which is still told by word of mouth as well as through written documents.
